NALIS Web Archives
NALIS Web Archives (NWA)
Documenting Trinidad and Tobago’s Digital Heritage.
What are Web Archives?
Traditionally, library collections contained books and manuscripts, but have grown to include e-books, audio visual materials and online databases with the escalation of technology usage. The National Library and Information System Authority through its NALIS Web Archive (NWA) now collects online publications such as, websites, webpages and other web documents, including PDFs and Mpg4s. NALIS recognises that there cannot be a complete study of history in the future without capturing information resources from the World Wide Web to aid researchers. The collections in the NWA will represent specific themes of national importance. However, the NALIS Web Archive will not include social media at this time.
To Access the NWA
- Click on the collection link
- Scroll through the Web Archived Titles
- Select the URL for the desired title
- Look for the highlighted date on the calendar and click on the time links
Once the calendar date is selected the archived webpage or site will open. There are URLs with only the initial page archived while others may contain active links to other pages, others will open a downloadable PDF or provide access to an archived video on YouTube.
Web Archiving is a new addition to NALIS’ information products and in the future clients can look forward to additional web archived collections of national interest.
