What is Flipster?
Flipster is a digital magazine service that offers users access to their favourite magazines through the Library.
Is Flipster compatible with screen readers?
Yes, the text view for reading magazines on a desktop is accessible for screen readers. Some publications in the Flipster app also include the text-to-speech reader.
What categories of eMagazines are available?
You can read best-selling magazines on fitness, health and wellness; family and kids; science and technology; food and cooking; and so many more.
Do I have to be a member of the library to access Flipster?
Yes. If you are not a member of the Library, you can Register Online for a temporary ID or visit a public library nearest to you.
How do I sign into Flipster?
Sign into Flipster using your OpenAthens Account. If you do not have an account, please fill out the online OpenAthens Registration Form.
How do I access Flipster on my desktop?
Read magazines in your web browser on your computer. Visit Resources on the NALIS homepage and select Flipster Digital Magazines. Click on the cover of an eMagazine to open Flipster.
How can I download the Flipster app on my device?
This free app is available for Android and iOS devices and on Fire OS tablets. Visit your device’s app store and download the Flipster – Digital Magazines app.
How many eMagazines can I borrow?
There is no limit to the number of magazines you can read or download.
How long is the download period for a digital magazine?
The download times range from two (2) to seven (7) days depending on the publication. However, you can check out an eMagazine issue again after it expires.
How can I access back issues of an eMagazine?
You can access back issues on your desktop or mobile device.
- Desktop/laptop – open the most recent issue of a magazine and click on All Issues in the menu list. The older issues will appear in the right column, scroll down to view all.
- Mobile device – tap on the most recent issue of a magazine and swipe down to see all available issues.
Can I search within a magazine?
Yes, only the desktop supports keyword searching within an issue or all issues. Currently, there is no search feature on the mobile app.
Can I print an article from a digital magazine?
The publisher decides what can be printed, so you might be able to print one page, a selection of pages, or none at all. You can only access this feature on a computer.
