The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) recently donated a number of books to the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) to contribute to the archiving and sharing of the country’s heritage and historical knowledge, which is facilitated by the statutory organisation.

The books which contribute to the cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago were all written by local authors affiliated with UTT, including LeRoy Clarke, Lawrence Scott and Selwyn Ryan.

Neil Parsanlal, Chairman, NALIS, made mention of the volume of local literature available and the need to use this information to develop a bibliography to withstand the intellectual scrutiny of academia. He also added “The development of UTT, is the development of Trinidad and Tobago.” in relation to the University’s longstanding dedication to supporting and advancing its own.

Professor Prakash Persad, President, UTT echoed this sentiment, and called for more efforts to be made by both parties to preserve the various aspects of the nation’s multiethnic narratives, customs and traditions, to share within society.

Both parties noted their pleasure to be working together, and pledged to strengthen this relationship to the benefit of all of Trinidad and Tobago.
