The Nalis 2013 calendar "Native Orchids" is now available at the National Library. Produced in honour of the life and work of the late Professor Julian Kenny, this attractively designed calendar showcases 13 stunning images of the native orchids of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean photographed by Kenny, a former zoologist, columnist, author and Independent Senator. It also includes the descriptions and the scientific and local names of each of the selected orchids.

The original collection of slides and photographs of local flora and fauna was donated to the National Library in July 2004. It is housed at the Heritage Library, National Library of Trinidad and Tobago, Port of Spain.

The collection consists of approximately 2700 Kodachrome 10, 25 and 35 mm colour slides, black and white images, slides, negatives and photographs.  The slides have been digitised and can be viewed at the Nalis Digital Library.

It is hoped this calendar, in some small way, captures the passion Kenny held for the conservation of the environment. The calendars are priced at $32 each for registered members of the library and $40 each for non-registered persons.
