Come celebrate National Library Week 2015 (November 29 to December 05) and learn that
Libraries are FUNomenal.

NALIS invites the public to participate in a number of programmes and activities at Public Libraries throughout the country this National Library Week.  These programmes and activities are for every member of the family and are intended to stimulate the mind, educate, inspire and demonstrate that libraries are fun places and spaces and are still relevant in an increasingly digital world.

The first event for the week will be the 9^th Annual Celebrity Tale-A-Thon.  To be hosted in collaboration with Courts on Sunday November 29 at the National Library in Port of Spain, the Celebrity Tale-A-Thon is the annual grand storytelling event which will feature several local celebrities.  This event usually attracts hundreds of children, young adults and adults.  In addition to storytelling and entertainment there will be a BMX Biking demonstration, games, puppetry, baby lapsit, craft booths, face painting, library quest, live, lovable pets, an animation workshop for the young adults to be held in the Young Adult Library, Bingo for persons 60 years and over and much more.

During the week, persons are invited to Vision Screening sessions at various libraries; the Heritage Library’s Family Heirloom Preservation Clinic; Meet and Greet Author sessions; Assistive Technology sessions for the visually impaired; BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) sessions at selected libraries for persons who wish to learn how to use their hand held electronic devices to obtain eBooks and other eResources; Cyber Safety sessions for persons of all ages, and the Best Ever Story Time (BEST) programme for children.

Also, starting on November 30, libraries will offer an amnesty on overdue books and DVDs. The amnesty does not apply to damaged or lost items.   This promotion will end on December 31.
