It was like the “bringing forth of a new child”, those were the comments of the NALIS’ Director, Public Libraries Division, Annette Wallace, as she welcomed guests to the official reopening of library services in St. Helena. Residents of St. Helena and environs including the members of the St. Helena Kiwanis Club were elated when NALIS officially reopened the St. Helena library, making it NALIS’ newest public library service point. Located at Mohepath Trace, St. Helena, the library was established by the Kiwanis Club in 1982 but was handed over to NALIS in the year 2000. It was previously called the St. Helena Community Library.

The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) upgraded the facilities and increased its book stock. At present, the book stock stands at 12,028; 10,082 for adults and 1,946 for children.

Offering lending services, reading rooms, reference services, remedial reading, computer training, free Internet access, storytelling and a medical corner, this library opens Monday to Friday from 10am to 6:00pm. It is hoped that the hours of services will be extended soon.
