How to Place a Hold in OverDrive
July 30, 2026
San Fernando Public Library Opens
August 27, 2026
The public is invited to participate in the National Library and Information System Authority’s (NALIS) Free Book Exchange and Donation Drive Programme on Saturday August 8, 2026, at the Foyer, Pamella Benson Audio Visual Room, National Library, between the hours 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Now in its 4th year, this NALIS programme encourages parents and guardians to exchange their child’s gently used school books for another, creating a spirit of community sharing and reuse, while relieving the financial burden of purchasing required school books for the new school term.
Participation is easy. Before the day of the exchange, persons are invited to drop off their gently used primary, secondary or tertiary level texts to the Public Relations and Marketing Department, 3rd Floor, National Library, between the hours 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. NALIS will not accept texts belonging to schools or which were part of the Government’s Text Book Programme. As far as practicable, books must be published within the last five years, save for if the updated edition is older than five years.
For every book donated, a ticket is given which entitles receipt of a free book. This means that if 10 free books are donated, the ticket holder is entitled to receive 10 free books. Parents and guardians must walk with their book lists on the day of the exchange.
To drop off texts, persons are to contact the Public Relations and Marketing Department at pr.marketing@nalis.gov.tt or call 624-4466 extension 2336. Check NALIS’ website and social media pages for additional information.
