Well-known local cartoonist Keith (Keithos) Anderson handed over his collection of 58 original caricature drawings of cultural icons to the National Library and Information System Authority (Nalis) last month. The original drawings will be preserved as part of Trinidad and Tobago’s heritage information and will be made available to the public for research purposes.

Fifty of the 58 drawings formed part of Anderson’s exhibition titled “50 Faces,” mounted at the National Library in 2008. In spite of health challenges, Anderson continues to draw and added new “faces” to the collection. Images of the “50 Faces” exhibition, which included caricatures of The United Sisters, The Mighty Duke, Jit Samaroo, Superblue, Sprangalang, Singing Francine, Lord Nelson, Mavis John and Niki Crosby, can be viewed at Nalis’ website at http://www.nalis.gov.tt/Resources/Exhibitions-and-Photo-Galleries/ID/5/50-FACES-CARICATURES-OF-LEADING-CULTURAL-ICONS

Keithos has been drawing for most of his life. He worked for the weekly newspapers, BOMB, Sunday Punch, TNT Mirror and Blast doing various stints, and also at the Express and Trinidad Guardian as an editorial cartoonist.

Drawings from Anderson’s second exhibition, “Keithos Back in Town” were featured at the National Library in 2012. Anderson hopes to mount this exhibition again early in the new year.
