These recommended free e-resources are specifically aligned with the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) curriculum framework as suggested in the CSEC Additional Mathematics Syllabus. The syllabus generally aims to:

• Build upon those foundational concepts, techniques and skills acquired at the CSEC General Proficiency Level and form linkages to areas of study at the Advanced Proficiency Level
• Enhance ways of learning Mathematics
• Stimulate further curiosity and analytical thinking in deriving solutions to problems which may not necessarily be solved by a single/unique approach
• Promote effective mathematical communication
• Develop abilities to reason logically
• Develop skills in formulating real-world problems into mathematical form
• Develop positive intrinsic mathematical values, such as, accuracy and rigour
• Connect Mathematics with other disciplines such as Science, Business and the Arts

 

NOTE: On completion of this course of study, the student will be able to make a smooth transition to higher levels of study in Mathematics, or move on to career choices where a deeper knowledge of the general concepts of Mathematics is required. This course of study, which includes fundamentals of Pure and Applied Mathematics, caters to diverse interests enabling students to develop critical-thinking skills applicable to other subject areas. Through insights gained into the exciting world of advanced mathematics, the student will be equipped with the tools necessary to approach any mathematical situation with confidence.
