NALIS: PUBLIC WILL BENEFIT FROM CHINESE GOVERNMENT DONATION

The public will benefit from the computer equipment generously donated by the People’s Republic of China to the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS). At the handing over ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Development and NALIS held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency, Madame Xu Yanan, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China said that the gift of computers would be put to good use installed at NALIS. She pointed out that “NALIS has a big role to play in the development of expert language and communication skills, the capacity to utilize a wide range of information technology and software, and the ability to foster creative thinking”.

In her vote of thanks, Lucia Phillip, Director, Information Networks Division said that the 25 PCs, 28 Printers including approximately 346 other individual items donated are being distributed to NALIS’ Public Libraries and Special Libraries throughout Trinidad and Tobago. This donation will increase the number of computers available at libraries, enabling greater Internet connectivity to a larger number of individuals.
