ONE MONTH AND HARD LABOUR FOR TRYING TO LEAVE THE LIBRARY WITH BOOK

A patron of the National Library was formally charged with larceny and sentenced to one-month imprisonment with hard labour. He was caught trying to leave the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago with a book hidden in the waist of his pants under his jersey. He is the second person charged for attempted robbery of a book at the National Library.

In another matter at the National Library, a patron was charged for using obscene language, resisting arrest and assaulting a security officer.

We require that our rules and regulations are adhered to, and that the facilities are used for the purpose for which they have been intended. Any behaviour that is deemed to be in violation of rules and policies, will result in suspension of a user’s membership and/or prosecution by law.
