31 YEARS OF CUBA-CARICOM RELATIONS EXHIBITION AT NATIONAL LIBRARY

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) launched a photographic exhibition National Library of Trinidad and Tobago to celebrate 31 years of Cuba-CARICOM relations. The Exhibition can be viewed at the Heritage Library, 2nd Floor, of the National Library.

The photographic exhibition was initially launched in Havana, Cuba on December 8, 2002 at the CARICOM/Cuba Summit, and is, for the first time, exhibited outside of Cuba. The Exhibition constitutes a graphic historical account of the ink of friendship between Cuba and CARICOM.

The Ambassador of Cuba, speaking at the launch said that 31 years ago Trinidad and Tobago together with Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica took a very brave step to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Cuba. On December 8, 1972, these countries signed diplomatic relations with Cuba under adverse conditions and under great pressure from smaller and newer independent states.
