STORYTELLERS PROMOTE READING AT NALIS' CELEBRITY TALE-A-THON

The National Library and Information System Authority’s (NALIS) 14th Annual Celebrity Tale-A-Thon – the Christmas Edition, which features prominent persons in our society, will be premiered on Sunday December 18 from 4:00 pm on TTT and via NALIS’ Facebook page and YouTube Channel. This grand storytelling programme seeks to foster the love for reading as well as enhance children’s listening, vocabulary and comprehension skills.

This year’s storytellers include the honourable Terrance Deyalsingh, Minister of Health; Dr Roshan Parasram, ORTT, Chief Medical Officer; Penelope Spencer, award winning actress; Sharon Clark-Rowley, attorney-at-law and wife of the honourable prime minister; Marina Salandy Brown, founder and director of the NGC Bocas Lit Fest; Stephon Felmine, social media influencer and teacher; Mickela Panday, attorney-at-law and politician; Shelly Dass-Manning, international relations consultant and television presenter; Lara Quentrall –Thomas, businesswoman, philanthropist, teacher and author; Dr Sacha JC Baynes, education professional and author; Michelle Borel, broadcaster, motivational speaker, publisher and author, and Jasmin Simmons, NALIS’ director, Heritage Library Division and spoken word artiste.

Debbie Goodman, Manager, Corporate Communications at NALIS said that the 2022 Celebrity Tale-A-Thon will be positive, entertaining and educational. We believe that children will be inspired to read when they see persons they ‘know’ doing so.” She added, “Prior to the pandemic, this NALIS signature event was held in-person at the National Library.  However, having it virtually allows for persons to view it again and again, as has been the case with the 2020 and 2021 editions.”     

Also included in the programme will be a captivating craft sessions with Gia Marie Holder, Library Assistant I, NALIS.  Wendell Bompart a presenter at W107.1FM will be the programme’s host.

NALIS’ Celebrity Tale-A-Thon is sponsored by the NGC (The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago), Kiss Baking Company Limited and National Flour Mills Limited.  Viewers can also look forward to participating in fun activities which will be held during the programme to win hampers.
