Caribbean Airlines (CAL) has recently donated 46 boxes containing approximately 2,300 Caribbean Beat magazines to the National Library and Information System Authority (Nalis) to be distributed throughout the secondary school system, the public library network and the Heritage Library for use by researchers.
According to Primatie Persad, Nalis’ Director, Educational Library Services Division, “These magazines contain historical, cultural and geographical West Indian information. The content from these will provide relevant resource material to support the school’s curriculum, students’ research projects, School Based Assessments (SBAs) and Internal Assessments (IAs).”
The national airline made another large donation of other issues of Caribbean Beat magazines to Nalis in 2019. These were added to School Library Media Centres’ (SLMCs) collections.
Caribbean Beat is an in-flight magazine first for BWIA and then for Caribbean Airlines. This is the Caribbean’s leading magazine on Caribbean arts, culture and the society. 2022 marks the thirty-first year since the publication of the bimonthly magazine.
