The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) categorically rejects the recent allegation that it has not complied with the Prime Minister's call for the public service to implement rotational work schedules for its employees.
The Executive Director's memorandum to staff dated August 3, 2020 informed staff of the re-implementation of "a rostering system aimed at reducing the number of persons in the workplace at any given point in time" and supervisors have rostered staff accordingly. Those who are unable to work offsite, due to the very nature of their jobs, were given flexible work hours. The Authority is mindful that staff who provide services to government ministries, including the Ministry of Education are to be guided by their respective ministries.
NALIS, a body corporate, guided by Act 18 of 1998, takes its responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of its staff very seriously.
