Children up to the age of 13 have been invited to participate in the National Library and Information System Authority’s Doll Costumed Figures Competition. The Competition which is geared toward developing the creative talents and the imagination of the nations youth will be held from February 05 – 16. The children will design, make and dress their dolls in carnival costumes under the supervision of their teachers and parents as well as title and comment of their creations.
The competition will be held in three categories: Costumed Hand-Made Figures; Costumed Figures not over 45cm high and Couples not over 45cm high. Each school has been invited to submit only three (3) entries in each category, but not more than nine (9) total entries.
The Zonal competition will be judged at the Arima Public Library, the Carnegie Free Library and the Port of Spain Public Library on Friday 09 at 10am. The First, Second and Third place winners in each category will participate in the National Finals to be held on Friday 16, February at the Port of Spain Children’s Library, corner Pembroke and Duke Streets, Port of Spain.
The judges, supplied by the National Band Leaders Association (NCBA), will be looking for originality, colour and workmanship.
This competition is just one of the many that NALIS hosts for primary and secondary school children.
