NALIS EXTENDS AMNESTY, LIBRARY CARD EXPIRATION DATE

Given the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s extension of the ‘Stay-At-Home’ measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) has extended its amnesty to May 31, 2020.

Consequently, books and DVDs borrowed from public libraries with a due date during the period of closure will not accrue overdue fines and fees.  Additionally, library cards with expiry dates during the period of closure have been automatically extended to May 31, 2020.

NALIS is committed to meeting the life-long learning, reading and information needs of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.  Although libraries are physically closed, library card and non-library card holders are invited to visit the NALIS website at www.nalis.gov.tt for remote access to eBooks; Caribbean novels and articles; business resources; educational materials; consumer health journals and much more, via the EBSCOhost Database. For quick access go to http://search.ebscohost.com. Log in using the ID: nalistt and the password: Support@2020. Additionally, NALIS’ corporate, Heritage Library, Educational Library Services and Public Library Facebook pages continue to provide virtual programmes, storytelling sessions, Spanish and Sign language classes, past papers as well as content for SEA and CSEC students.
