On September 14, NALIS in collaboration with Franklyn Dookheran, computer and technology expert, launched the book titled, The Other Side of the Computer at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago. The Other Side of the Computer, written by Dookheran gives an insight into the author’s experiences having worked in the information technology industry for some 49 years.
Dookheran said that the book is intended for anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in the field of information technology as well as for business professionals, consultants, students and persons dedicated to making the computer a revolutionary tool for improving their quality of life.
The author explained that though most computer texts focus on the software and hardware, The Other Side of the Computer bring new focus, holistically on the role information technology plays in organisations.
At the launch, Simon Fraser, lecturer in Information Systems and E-Commerce and Business Strategy, presented his review of the book and Neil Parsanlal, NALIS’ Chairman, delivered the feature address.
The evening’s programme was dedicated to Dookheran’s former colleague, the late Malcolm Daniel for his contribution to information technology. Daniel’s wife was presented with a copy of the book. Copies of the book will be made available at NALIS libraries and can also be purchased at Nigel R. Khan booksellers.
