Celebrate National Library Week 2014 (October 26 to November 01) with the theme
Live, Learn and Laugh @ Your Library.
This National Library Week, NALIS will host a number of programmes throughout its network of libraries aimed at educating and inspiring all in Trinidad and Tobago.
The first event for the week will be the 8th Annual Celebrity Tale-A-Thon.To be hosted in collaboration with Courts on Sunday October 26 at the National Library in Port of Spain, the Celebrity Tale-A-Thon grand storytelling event will feature several local celebrities.This event usually attracts hundreds of children, young adults and adults.In addition to storytelling and entertainment there will be games, puppetry, baby lapsit, craft booths, face painting, library quest, Zoo to You, Bingo for persons 60 years and over and much more.
During the week, persons are invited to participate in a number of programmes at libraries. These include: Meet and Greet Author sessions; Caribbean Research workshops; Assistive Technology sessions for the visually impaired; BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) sessions at selected libraries for persons who wish to learn how to use their hand held electronic devices to obtain eBooks and other eResources; Cyber Safety sessions for persons of all ages; Round d Library Tours; and the Best Ever Story Time (BEST) programme for children.
Also, starting on October 27, libraries will offer an amnesty on overdue books and DVDs. The amnesty does not apply to damaged or lost items.This promotion will end on November 30.
