Members of the public are invited to participate in Nalis’ lunchtime lecture series entitled “The Bleachers, the Drag and the Greens: Celebrating 50 Years of Panorama in T&T.” Hosted by the Heritage Library Division, the lectures take place on Monday 28 January, Wednesday 30 January and Friday 1 February, 2013 from 12 noon to 1:00 pm in the News Media Room, Ground Floor, National Library Building, Hart and Abercromby Streets, Port of Spain. Speakers will include:
Kim Johnson: a renowned researcher on steelband history. He is the author of If Yuh Iron Good You is King, The Fragrance of Gold: Trinidad in the Age of Discovery, Renegades, Descendents of the Dragon and The Illustrated Story of Pan. Johnson is carded to speak on Monday 28 January on the topic: Panorama and Nationalism.
Joslynne Carr Sealey: an adjudicator for the annual Steelband Panorama Competition since 1976. She also served as a judge for the National Calypso Monarch Competition for over twenty-five years. Carr Sealey is carded to speak on Wednesday 30 January on the topic: The Development of Pan Music in Trinidad and Tobago.
Junior Howell: the CEO of Kalypso Koating, Color specialist steel pan factory and a music director/educator, acclaimed musician and panorama judge. He is also the principal at Caribbean School of Arts, Eco-Tourism, and Languages. Howell is carded to speak on Friday 1 February on the topic: The History of Panorama.
