NALIS HOSTS LECTURE ON RAMLEELA

The first International Ramleela Conference, hosted by the National Ramleela Council of Trinidad and Tobago (NRCTT), in collaboration with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Faculty of Humanities, St Augustine campus and the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), will take place from July 12 – 14, 2013, at the Learning Resource Centre, UWI. As an adjunct to this Conference, the National Library and Information System Authority (Nalis) will host a lecture on Saturday July 13, 2013, from 6:30pm.

This lecture, which will be held at the Audio/Visual Room, National Library Building, will feature Professor Richard Schechner, Professor of Performing Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, who will speak on The Ramleela of Ramnagar of Benaras India. Other participating lecturers include Professor M.K Gautam, who will address Open Air Visualisation of Ramleela: The Foundation Base of Indian Cultural Heritage & Civilisation and Dr. Paokholal Haokip who will present on the topic Ramleela: The Umbilical Cord that Connects Indian Diaspora with its Motherland.
