London-based Trinidad and Tobago performance artist and movement and theatre director, Greta Mendez will present a screening of her work at the National Library, Port of Spain on Tuesday, 20 March at 6pm.
In 2007 Mendez was awarded an Arts Council of Britain travel bursary to China and India where she began her collaboration with local artist in Lijiang and the Naxi people. She taught calypso dance to Sichuan Fine Art students and toured and performed with local artist from Bihar to Kashmir.
Currently in Trinidad for a short visit, Mendez will share her experiences and the creative work which emanated from collaboration with artists in China and India.
Mendez’ work has always fused dance, text, music and visual arts. At the screening she will also introduce the work of Kashmiri artist Inder Salim, Bangalore artist Bhuvanesh Kumar & Jeetin Rangher and dancers from Chongqing dancing calypso.
