BOOKS DONATED TO NALIS BY THE CHINESE EMBASSY

His Excellency Yang Youming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago, presented the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) with a collection of 165 books at the National Library on May 02, 2012.

This collection, written in English and bilingual English and Chinese, includes books on Chinese culture, history, foreign affairs, festivals, food, calligraphy, music, law, folk art, literature, painting, economy, clothing, inventions and architecture.

At the presentation of the books Ambassador Youming said that China had a thriving publishing industry and has become the leader in the number books published each year.  He expressed an interest in forging links between China and Trinidad and Tobago to promote exchanges and cooperation in the area of publishing.

Receiving the donation on behalf of Nalis was Lucia Phillip, executive director. Phillip said that through this collection the people of Trinidad and Tobago will acquire a greater understanding of China. This is the second collection of books donated to Nalis by the Chinese Embassy.
