Salisha Mohammed, a form five student of the ASJA Girls’ College, Tunapuna, is the winner of NALIS’ School Library Media Centre’s (SLMC) Logo Competition.
Hosted by the Educational Library Services Division in celebration of the International School Library Month (ISLM), the competition targeted students from forms four to six. The young adults were invited to design an original logo to brand and promote the use of the upgraded library services in secondary schools, now referred to as the SLMC.
For her winning logo, Mohammed received a Netbook courtesy Blink Broadband; promotional items from NALIS and the prestige of having her logo represent the tenets of I-Learning (information, integration and independence).
The competition, which was held with the approval of the Ministry of Education, provided students with an opportunity to translate the benefits of their SLMC – an enhanced learning environment facilitated by the integration of information communication technologies (ICTs) and updated information resources in support of the curriculum needs of the secondary schools - into a creative design.
NALIS takes this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Education, the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), principals, teachers and all the students for their contribution to and participation in the 2010 School Library Media Centre logo competition.
