WAYNE BERKELEY COLLECTION AT NATIONAL LIBRARY

A collection of the original costume drawings by masman Wayne Berkeley is housed at the Heritage Library, 2nd Floor National Library of Trinidad and Tobago. This collection spans the years 1966 to 2000 and comprises 58 sets of work with over 1000 pieces. The collection of costume drawings can be viewed at the NALIS Digital Library - www.nalis.gov.tt (See Digital Library)

In honour of the life and work of the late Wayne Berkeley, the Heritage Library Division has remounted the exhibition, “The Evolution of Costume Design – The Contribution of Wayne Berkeley 1965 – 2010” in the atrium, National Library in Port of Spain.

The material presented in the exhibition may serve to inspire young artists and aspiring Carnival costume designers. On display are drawings; photographs of costumed masqueraders; the six-time Band of the Year title holder’s biography; a listing of his achievements and much more. The exhibition will run from June 15 to July 15, 2011.
