Monday 08th December, 2008, was a historic day as NALIS handed over to Professor Julian Kenny a DVD representing the Kenny database of flora and fauna. The database is a collection of approximately 2700 Kodachrome 10 and 25 and 35mm colour slides and black and white images that capture the natural history of Trinidad and Tobago. The original collection donated in July 2004, consisted of slides, negatives and photographs.
The database is an important research tool from which researchers, students, teachers, and institutions can trace the changes in the flora and fauna as well as specific areas including the Buccoo and Salybia Reefs.
A copy of the completed collection was also distributed to the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine and the Guardian Life and Wildlife Fund through Professor Kenny. Anyone wishing to use the material can contact NALIS who now holds the copyright for these images.
Attendees at the handing over ceremony included, Professor Julian Kenny, Mrs Annette Wallace, Executive Director, NALIS, Mrs Joan Osborne, Director, Heritage Library Division, Mrs Hazel, Hazzard-Samuda, Librarian IV and Ms Jasmin Simmons, Librarian II (ag.)
