THE MEDIA IS INVITED TO ATTEND THE LAUNCH OF THE EXHIBITION - “50 YEARS OF EMPOWERING GIRLS AND WOMEN OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO FOR SUCCESS” FRIDAY 16TH JANUARY, 2009 AT 6:30 P.M.

Soroptimist International - Port of Spain, in collaboration with the National Library and Information System Authority will launch the exhibition, “50 Years of Empowering Girls and Women of Trinidad and Tobago for Success” on Friday 16 January at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago at 6:30 p.m. This exhibition commemorates the work of the chapter which started some 50 years ago. Soroptimist International is a worldwide voluntary organization for women, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.

The exhibition launch will feature and address from Dr. Jennifer Rouse, Director, Division of Ageing, Ministry of Social Development and greetings from the president of Soroptimist International, Port of Spain, Pamella Benson. Mounted will be photographs of the voluntary, social work done by the chapter and pioneers.

During the fiftieth anniversary year, Soroptimist International, Port of Spain will embark on a year-long set of activities which will bring to the forefront the vast amount of social work done over the years to promote the advancement of the women, children and families of our country.
