NALIS HOSTS CALYPSO CONFERENCE

NALIS presents the one-day conference, “Calypso Journeys: Triumphs and Challenges of the Music” at the National Library, Port of Spain on Friday 17 February 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Calypso artistes and researchers will discuss the following topics: The International Appeal of Calypso; The Language of Calypso; Calypso Abroad and the Issues of Copyright and Calypso and the Electronic Media. To end the conference, Dr Slinger Francisco “the Mighty Sparrow,” will be interviewed by a top researcher.

As a precursor to the conference, students are invited to view the documentary, “Calypso Dream” on Wednesday 15 February at the National Library at 10:00 a.m. The official launch of the conference will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday 16 February also at the National Library.

Conference registration is $40.00 per person for the entire day or any part thereof.
