NALIS UPGRADES NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE, ANNOUNCES DISRUPTION IN INTERNET AND WEB SERVICES: FRIDAY 26TH NOVEMBER 2021 - TIME: 2:00PM-4:00PM

NALIS will be conducting network and infrastructure upgrades to ensure a stable and more reliable service to you our valued clients.

 

Consequently, on Friday November 26, between the hours of 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, during the network and infrastructure upgrades, there will be no access to NALIS’ website, online services, as well as internet using the libraries’ computers. Wi-Fi services at libraries will be accessible as this will not be affected.

 

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you in advance for  your understanding and patience.

RESUMPTION OF LIMITED WALK-IN SERVICES FROM SEPTEMBER 1

NALIS announces the resumption of limited walk-in services from September 1, 2021 at its Heritage, Public and Community libraries.  Opening times are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

You are invited to call (624-1130, 626-2547 or 623-9673 ext. 2203) or email (asknalis@nalis.gov.tt) to make an appointment to visit the Heritage Library, located at the National Library Building to conduct research.

Public and community libraries will open (with the exception of Carnegie, the Maloney, Point Fortin, Rio Claro, Sangre Grande, St. Helena and Moruga libraries) to offer computer and Wi-Fi services only. Persons are encouraged to visit NALIS’ website and social media pages to access other services. 

To ensure your safety and that of our staff, please adhere to all safety protocols while at our facilities. Children twelve years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to access walk-in services.

Remember, NALIS’ amnesty on overdue books and DVDs has been extended to September 30.  Please place returns in the Return Bins provided at libraries.

A subsequent announcement will be made about the opening of the aforementioned libraries and the resumption of lending and reading room services at all public libraries.

NALIS OFFERS AMNESTY ON OVERDUE BOOKS/DVDS

NALIS announces its amnesty on overdue books and DVDs for the period, April 30 to June 30, 2021.   This means that books and DVDs borrowed from Public Libraries with a due date during the aforementioned period will accrue NO overdue fines and fees. 

NALIS looks forward to serving you when libraries reopen.  Be assured that every pre-caution will be taken to protect you and our staff.  In the interim, NALIS’ online platforms will continue to be a great resource for information, e-books, e-magazines, activities and programmes. Persons desirous of returning library materials can drop them off in the Book Return Bins at the National Library, Port of Spain.

WALK-IN SERVICES TO NALIS HERITAGE AND PUBLIC LIBRARIES SUSPENDED UNTIL MAY 23, 2021

In keeping with measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, NALIS will suspend walk-in services to its Heritage and Public Libraries as of April 30, 2021. Library and Information services will continue to be provided via the Authority’s website (www.nalis.gov.tt) and social media platforms.

The public is encouraged to utilise Flipster, Overdrive, EBSCOHost to access e-magazines, e-books and other e-resources provided by NALIS, as well as visit the organisation’s Facebook pages for notices and programming, including the Educational Library Services Divisions’ page for school related content. Reference queries emailed to asknalis@nalis.gov.tt will be answered.

DISRUPTION IN TELEPHONE SERVICE AT PORT OF SPAIN OFFICE

The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) wishes to advise the public that its PBX phone system at its National Library Building, Abercromby Street, Port of Spain is currently out of service. 

NALIS apologises for any inconvenience caused by this disruption in service and is working with its service provider to remedy the situation in the shortest possible time. NALIS’ head office, the Heritage Library and the Port of Spain Adult, Young Adult and Children’s public libraries can be reached via Instagram and each library’s Facebook page.

Telephone access to public libraries across the country has not been affected by the disruption at the Port of Spain office.  Telephone numbers for public libraries can be obtained via NALIS’ website at www.nalis.gov.tt and their respective Facebook pages.
