St.Jude’s School for Girls Library was officially opened on July 28th 2010. This Library was upgraded in accordance with the guidelines for library services for disadvantaged persons as recommended by The International Federation of Library Associations and Instuitions (IFLA).

The material housed in this Library will support the informational, educational, cultural, leisure and rehabilitative needs of the girls. It includes a variety of current print and non-print materials– fiction, biographies, self-study material (to support the curriculum and life-long learning) audio visual materials, multi-media and computer software, magazines, graphic novels and high interest/low vocabulary books for those with reading challenges.

The same pristine collections of bestsellers, magazine and multimedia which can be borrowed from any of our NALIS networks are now available at this Library.

This is the third library facility to be established in correctional institutions. The first upgrade at the Youth Training Center was officially opened on January 15th 2007 and the second at the Women’s Prison, October 6th 2009 both at Golden Grove Prison in Arouca.
