NALIS LIBRARIES IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS

As mandated by the NALIS Act No. 18 of 1998, NALIS provides a national information service for the benefit of the persons in institutions.

Through the provision of reading materials as well as educational and fun activities, the residents are encouraged to advance their education, learn new skills, tap into their inner potential, build self-esteem and confidence, showcase off their talents and prepare for their eventual, successful reintegration into the mainstream society.

NALIS’ institutional libraries have been established at the Youth Training Centre (January 15th 2008); Women’s Prison (October 9th 2009); St. Jude’s School for Girls (July 28th, 2010) and the Maximum Security Prison (April 9th 2013).
