Launch of NALIS' Chinese Exhibition

In recognition of the bicentenary of the arrival of the Chinese in Trinidad and Tobago, the Heritage Library Division of NALIS is mounting an exhibition to showcase 200 Years of Chinese Contribution to the Development of Trinidad and Tobago.

The exhibition will be launched on Thursday 5th October 2006 at 10:00 am in the Audio-Visual Room of the National Library Building.

The exhibition is on display in the Atrium of the National Library Building and will continue throughout October.

Book and CD Launch

The Chinese Bicentennial Committee will be launching two books and a CD in the Audio-Visual Room of the National Library Building on Saturday 7th October 2006 at 10:00 am. The authors of this material are Dr. Walton Look Lai, Kim Johnson and Brian Kong.

Carnegie Librarians Reach Out

Storytelling: Carnegie Librarians took their storytelling programme to Marabella and Harmony Hall Presbyterian Schools. The response was overwhelming and the children want them to visit again. View pictures in our Photo Gallery .

Lecture: The Library hosted a lecture on Alzheimer's Disease. The lecture was well attended. Go to our Photo Gallery to view pictures.

Walk for Literacy

Universal Children's Day Poetry Competition

In observance of Universal Children's Day, NALIS is hosting a Poetry Competition. The competition is open to all children between the ages of 6 and 12 years, and runs from Monday 18th September to Wednesday 11th October 2006.

The competition is divided into three age groups.

  • Group A: 6 to 8 years
  • Group B: 9 to 10 years
  • Group C: 11 to 12 years

Entry forms are available at all public libraries in Trinidad and Tobago, and a Prize Giving Ceremony will take place on Monday 16th October at your Branch Library.
