  Anthony Prospect was born on the 10th February 1928. He attended Maraval and Belmont R. C. School, eventually winning a Government Scholarship to study Military Bandmastership in 1961 at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, England, the Royal College of Music and the Royal Schools of Music. Mr. Prospect won the Silver Plaque and Baton in conducting at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, England.

In 1944 he joined the Trinidad and Tobago Police Band and attained the rank of Superintendent in 1967. Upon his gaining the position of conductor for the police band in 1964, Mr. Prospect altered the normal music for the police band, fusing calypso music and military rhythm. In 1951 he was appointed the adjudicator at the Music Festival. He adjudicated the Steelband Music Festival in Grenada, Antigua and Guyana. He is credited with being one of the first people to write music for the pan.

In 1966 he represented Trinidad and Tobago as musical director at the Commonwealth Festival of Arts. He composed "Intermezzo in E Flat" as the 1966 test piece for the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival. In 1967 he represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Expo in Grenada. He is also credited with composing the background music for the films "Right and Wrong" and the "Caribbean Fox". In 1972 he was appointed musical director and arranger for the Casablanca Steel Orchestra. Mr. Prospect is one of the first individuals to create a pan theatre. In 1978 he produced a long playing album for the Renegades Steel Orchestra. In 1981 he had the honour of being selected as the musical director of Witco Desperadoes Steel Orchestra for their English Tour. In 1982, under his baton and with his arrangement of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture", Casablanca won the prestigious Music Festival.

Mr. Prospect retired as police bandmaster in 1982. After his retirement he worked as a steelband consultant at the Inter-Cultural Music Institute, where he assisted with the music notation for major pan events including the Music Festival and Panorama.
