The
purpose of school libraries is to support the curriculum of the
schools in which they reside. There are libraries in many
of the primary and secondary schools. They all fall under the
umbrella of the Educational Library Services Division located
in the NALIS building in Port of Spain.
Special
Libraries
Special
libraries are found in government departments and agencies. Their
purpose is to provide researchers and staff of the organisation
with the specialised information they need to carry out their
research. The collections in these types of libraries are highly
specialised and focused on a particular field, and may or may
not be accessible to the public, depending on the type of organisation.
Still
in its early stages, the Digital Library will comprise images
of original Trinidad and Tobago documents which are significant
to our heritage. We have begun with sample images of original
Slave
Deeds and documents from the Sir
