Excerpt from Panther's

THE APOLOGY

Not too long ago I could remember

I sang a calypso about Pamela

I mash up the town; I had a good season

They loved the picong about Pam Nicholson

Well, the same people who used to give me encore

Now they want to eat Sugar Aloes raw

Well, if that is the case, justice must be done

If you cannot sing about one, don't sing about none.

Chorus

So all those things I said about Pamela

All those tings I said about her bladder

I am sorry

For going and telling the nation

How she wet the bed at the Hilton

I am sorry

For when I saw how they want to kill Aloes

For calling Oma in his calypsoes

When I sang about Pam Nicholson

The same people didn't say nutten

These things open my eyes,

My error I realize

I am sorry.

When they sang the calypso on Chambers

I didn't see nothing in no newspapers

No bacchanal, no controversy

Everybody laugh how Chambers duncy

But the more they laugh, the more he stay humble

Because he knew calypso music belong to the people

But not so these days, if your tongue just slip

They does quick to talk about censorship.

Chorus

So all those things we said about Chambers

On behalf of Plainclothes and all the others

I am sorry

For going and tell the whole country

How he went to be with a blondie

I am sorry

For when I see how they want to kill Cro Cro

For singing the same kind of calypso

When they sang about how Chambers duncy

Even Panday wand all was happy

These things open my eyes

My error I realize

So Madam Chambers

I humbly apologize.

At one time the calypsonian Chalkie

Like he had a mortgage on Dr. Willie

He called him all kinds of things, he call him deafy

Poor Williams had to watch Dimanche Gras on TV

But don't mind what he sing, don't mind what he say

All Williams used to say was "Let the jackass bray"

But boy the way things going today

That same jackass and all like he 'fraid to bray".

Chorus

So wherever you are Erica

All those things we said 'bout your father

I am sorry

For causing humiliation

To the father of the nation

I am sorry

For when I saw how they treated Watchman

They refused to give him promotion

For him to get satisfaction

He had to run and take legal action

Boy these things open my eyes

My error I realize

So Erica,

I humbly apologize.

When Kitchener sang Sugar Bum Bum Audrey

I didn't hear no comments from anybody

No women's group, no organization

Not a soul came out to defend Audrey as a woman

The radio stations both FM and AM

They used to jam Sugar Bum Bum like it was the anthem

They use to play the calypso word for word

But now they want to ban Bottom in the Road

Chorus

So wherever you are Miss Audrey

For them things we say 'bout yuh boomsie

I am sorry

For singing about your posterior

Asking you where you get that sugar

I am sorry
