The San Juan Public Library was established on10th May 1946, at 45 Second Street, San Juan. On 15th September 1997 the library moved to 20 Eastern Main Road, San Juan.
The library's collection includes adult, young adult and children's reference material, as well as fiction.
The library offers a photocopying service as well as free internet access.
The library organises three competitions per year among schools in the area - one competition in each school term. A storytelling competition is held in the first term of the academic year, either a calypso or costume figure competition in the second academic term, and a quiz competition for post SEA students in the third term.
Workshops, storytelling sessions and other activities are held at various times of the year. Vacation programmes are held during July - August. A Christmas programme is also held in December.
In addition, displays commemorating festivals, local holidays, notable personalities and special events, are mounted throughout the year.
