The Cataloguing Unit is responsible for maintaining the union catalogue and the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of NALIS. Books, serials, pamphlets, videocassettes, computer files and sound recordings are catalogued for the National Library, twenty-two public libraries and two bookmobiles. Even though the public libraries in Tobago are administered by the THA rather than NALIS, our services are integrated and books are catalogued and processed for the public libraries in Tobago and their records appear in the OPAC. Processing and despatch are an integral part of cataloguing. Library materials are processed, sorted and prepared for distribution to the public libraries in Trinidad and Tobago.
