 Revised Computer Loan Facility for Public Servants effective 1st October, 1999

In Ministry of Finance Circular No. 6 of 1998 dated 25th May, 1998 you were informed of the introduction of a Computer Loan Facility for Public Servants. With effect from 1st June, 1998, the loan facility, "equivalent to 80%, up to a maximum of $15,000, of the purchase price of a computer", became available to certain categories of permanently appointed monthly-paid Public Servants. Comptroller of Accounts Circular No. 2 of 1999 dated 20th January, 1999 identifies other categories of persons to whom the facility is available.

 

  1. This Circular is a follow-up to Ministry of Finance Circular No. 6 referred to above and is intended to provide up-to-date information on the computer loan facility for Public Servants.

  3. The up-dated information on this loan facility is as follows:

 

    1. The loan is available to eligible officers in one instance only.
    2. The loan facility is available for a period of three (3) years from October 1998 to September 2001 to enable all eligible officers to have access to the facility.
    3. With effect from 1st October, 1999 the loan facility will be reduced to a maximum of $10,000, being 80% of the cost of a computer and the peripheral equipment. Please note that peripheral equipment does not include furniture.
    4. Where the computer loan facility is included in the terms of a contract, figures representing the maximum amount of the loan should not be quoted.
