What's On at the Young Adult LibraryLibrary BasicsHow
are the books arranged? The Dewey Decimal
System organizes information into 10 broad areas, which are broken
into smaller and smaller topics. Different topics are assigned numbers,
known as "call numbers." For example, "Chemistry
" is given the number 540. To see what books the library has
on chemistry, go to the non-fiction shelves and find the books that
have 540 as part of their call number. If, after this you are still unsure what to do, ask the library staff for assistance. |
