In its effort to enhance the capability of the farming community, the Ministry of Agriculture provides a variety of services. These are outlined below:
Interested Land Owners and Tenants can register as farmers and obtain a Farmers I.D. Card.
The applicant must submit the following:
(a) Proper Identification (I.D. Card, Driver's Permit, or Passport).
(b) Proof of Land Tenancy/Land Ownership.
(c) Proof of Outstanding Payment of Land Taxes and/or Land Rents.
(d) One Passport sized photograph
Farmers I.D. can be collected within two months.
The Ministry of Agriculture offers FREE Farmer Training Courses/Seminars in crops and livestock in all counties and at the Farmers' Training Centre.

The 4-H/Young Farmers Clubs were formed to encourage the involvement of young people in agriculture.
Contact the 4-H Officer at County Extension Offices for additional information.
Apply in writing to the Chief Technical Officer, Ministry of Agriculture, St. Clair, Port-of-Spain.
Farmer registration number and literature on farming material/equipment must be provided.
State lands for agriculture are made available on a rental basis to those who are genuinely interested in the development of agriculture.
Interested persons should contact their County Extension Office with:
(a) Proper Identification (I.D., Driver's Permit or Passport).
(b) Proof of Citizenship of Trinidad and Tobago (Birth Certificate of Trinidad and Tobago or naturalisation certificate).
After submitting the above, the applicant will be interviewed and informed on the results of the interview.
Tenants who have committed no breaches with respect to the terms of their probationary tenancy agreement can apply for a Standard Agricultural Lease any Wednesday at the County Extension Office, with proof of:
(a) legal land tenancy; and
(b) no outstanding rent payments.
Requests for transfer of tenancy within the terms of the existing tenancy agreements should be made in writing to the County Extension Officer on any Wednesday. Tenants should provide a copy of the tenancy agreement and proof of payment of all outstanding land rents.
The person to whom the tenant is requesting transfer must provide:
(a) Proof of Identification (Identification Card, Driver's Permit or Passport).
(b) Proof of Citizenship of Trinidad and Tobago (Birth Certificate/Naturalisation Certificate).
Application for existing agricultural subsidies should be made at the County Extension Offices within their area.
Orchard plants are available at the St. Augustine Nursery, La Pastora Propagation Station, Santa Cruz, La Reunion Propagation Station, Centeno and Marper Farm , Manzanilla Road.
Cocoa and coffee plants may be obtained at La Reunion and Marper Farm only. Ornamental plants are sold at St. Augustine Nursery and La Reunion Propagation Station.
Bulk requests for orchard plants should be made through County Extension Offices.
Seeds and seedlings of a wide variety of vegetables are available at the St. Augustine Nursery, Chaguaramas Agricultural Development Project (CADP), Demonstration Stations (except La Pastora Demonstration Station) and all Breeding Units.

The Ministry of Agriculture sells piglets, young goats, sheep and rabbits at a subsidised rate based on the availability of stock.

The Ministry of Agriculture provides stud services for pigs, goats and sheep and artificial insemination for cattle.

The Ministry of Agriculture provides veterinary services and advice on disease problems in livestock.
Contact your Animal Health Assistant at County Offices or the Apiary Office at St. Augustine Nurseries Compound, Farm Road, Curepe.
The following services are offered by the Apiary Office:
(a) Technical advice and training courses on bee-keeping.
(b) Purchase of starter colonies (based on availability of stock).
(c) Removal/Information/Technical Advice on Africanised Bees.
(d) Inspection/Approval of apiary sites.
