LAST CHRISTMAS PROGRAMME AT POS PUBLIC LIBRARY

Hundreds of children from schools in and around Port of Spain streamed into the Port of Spain Public Library, Corner Duke and Pembroke Streets on December 04, 2002, for what staffers called the "last Christmas Programme" at this location.

Maria Regina, Sacred Heart Boys and Girls R.C., St. Roses R.C., St. Francis Boys R.C., Briggs Preparatory, Piccadilly Government Primary, Eastern Boy's Government Primary, and St. Catherine's Private School, all performed to the delight of their audience. There was no shortage of Parang renditions, chorale speaking, traditional Christmas songs, and dances all magnificently offered. The Port of Spain 24th Cub Scouts Pan Ensemble did not disappoint, as this group, for years, has been a part of the Port of Spain Public Library Christmas programme, and a crowd pleaser.

The spotlight however was on the Port of Spain Children's Club members who acted out the Nativity. Dressed in shepherd's outfits, bearing gifts of "gold" "frankincense" and "Myrrh", they visited "Mary", "Joseph" and the "Baby Jesus". The Port of Spain Public Library Children's Club consists of primary school students from different schools who meet every Friday for one hour from 3:00 p.m.

From the faces of the joyful youngsters and staff, it was evident that this was indeed another National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) success.

Below are some of the pictures from this event.
