Mr. A. N. R. Robinson attended the Castara Methodist School where his father, James A. Robinson was Head Master. From there he was the first Bowles Scholar to Bishop's High School, Tobago, in 1939, and later the first House Scholarship winner from Bishop's High School in 1942.

As candidate for Island scholarship from Bishop's High School in 1944 and 1945, Mr. Robinson obtained the Higher School Certificate in both years with Distinction in Latin. Continuing his studies in Tobago, Robinson gained admission to the Bachelor of Laws Degree of London University as an external student in 1949.

Arthur N. R. Robinson is one of the most experienced statesmen in the Caribbean region and the Commonwealth. He has been in public life for over 45 years, holding the three highest Offices of Trinidad and Tobago: Chairman of the Tobago House of Assembly, Prime Minster of Trinidad and Tobago and now President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Prime Minister Robinson introduced at the General Assembly of the United Nations the proposal for establishing an international criminal court, championing the cause to eventual success. His initiatives for the region include a Caribbean Court of Justice; the West Indian Commission; the Caribbean Economic Conference; and the CARICOM Awards for distinguished service to the Caribbean region.
