The Fisheries Division / Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute (CFTDI) Information Centre has a number of computerised databases in marine fisheries available for use. Some are available directly in-house using a customised CDS/ISIS retrieval program, developed by the Fisheries Division, Ministry of Food Production and Marine Resources, and others are available on CD-ROM (Compact Disc - Read Only Memory).

This database is an inventory of fishery and oceanographic cruises conducted in the Caribbean region. It provides a record of the vessels used, responsible institutions, types of data recorded, fisheries surveyed, geographical area covered and catching methods used. The major objectives and summary of results for each cruise are also included. Most of the data are sourced from cruise reports.

Gulp is also available for on-line searching at the UNECLAC office, Trinidad and Tobago.

This database covers information for the science, technology, and management of marine and freshwater environments. Citations also cover socio-economic and legal aspects of the aquatic sciences.

 

Subject matter includes aquaculture, biology, ecology, fish processing and products, fisheries, limnology, marine meteorology and climatology, marine technology and engineering, non-living resources (oil, gas, minerals), oceanography and pollution. Also included are citations to 5,000 primary journals, monographs, dissertations, conference proceedings, and technical reports.
